A huge Vamos Theatre welcome to Yang Zhang, Jin Xu and Xiaoxu Liu who have joined us to develop a brand new Walkabout performance for the streets of Shanghai.

Brought together by One Production, Beijing, the collaboration will be rehearsed over Zoom, with the actors in Beijing and the Vamos Theatre production team in the UK. We’ll be working together over March and April ready for live performances in early May at the Modern Drama Valley Festival, Shanghai.

Yang Zhang graduated from the Performance Department of Sichuan University of Media and Communications and now works as an actor at the ERP Studio of Beijing Dahua City Centre for the Performing Arts. She has performed with a range of theatre companies and festivals, including Wuzhen Theatre Festival, Chengdu Star Theatres, Feng Qiu Huang Theatre and has performed Hamlet at Daliangshan International Theatre Festival.

Jin Xu graduated from the Performance Department of Wuhan Institute of Communication and is one of the founders and actor of the ERP Studio of Beijing Dahua City Centre for the Performing Arts. He has performed with a range of theatre companies and festivals, including Wuhan, Wuzhen Theatre Festival, Chengdu Star Theatres, Daliangshan International Theatre Festival and Feng Qiu Huang Theatre.

Xiaoxu Liu graduated from the Performance Department of Sichuan University of Media and Communications and now works as an actor and producer at Experimental Rhapsody Postdramatisches Studio (ERP Studio) of Beijing Dahua City Centre for the Performing Arts. As well as his theatre work, Xiaoxu also acts in film and TV series – in 2020 he played the role of Xiaobei, the Tian fan's assistant in the TV series Game Changer, alongside actors Xiaoming Huang, Zhuo Tan, and Xiaohai Shen.

We are so delighted to welcome the team to Vamos Theatre, albeit virtually, and are really excited about the work the three are already producing. The performance, based on the exploits of a team of scooter-riding delivery drivers, promises to be a funny and eye-catching event, and we can't wait to see new Vamos Theatre masks (created by Russelll Dean) out on Walkabout in Shanghai.
