Want to create mask theatre with your students? Use the Library!

We’re delighted to be able to offer teachers and students the chance to try out mask theatre without the cost of purchasing a mask set.

The Vamos Theatre Mask Library, winner of a Drama & Theatre Magazine Education Award, offers a set of thirty-two character masks, available to loan in half termly blocks. It’s an ideal way to introduce your students to mask, or to create a mask performance in an educational setting. Beautifully crafted by Strangeface’s Russell Dean, these durable masks offer students, teachers, lecturers and facilitators endless devising and theatre-making opportunities.

What do I get?
The set consists of thirty-two masks, covering a wide-range of characters. They are created to fit children and adults from 8 years upwards and are painted in various skin tones, currently including 8 brown, 8 black and 16 white. We advise you to use masks from the set that best match the skin tone of your students.

How does the Library work?
If you’d like to loan a set of masks, email us at learning@vamostheatre.co.uk with your ideal dates – don't forget these need to be a half-term block. If dates are available, we’ll then send you a confirmation email, along with an invoice for loan and deposit. Once payment is cleared, and the dates confirmed, we’ll send you your mask set by courier and also arrange the return courier date with you. All you then need to do is play, create and perform, pack up the mask set and send it back by the agreed date. For full conditions, see the terms here.

Costs - state funded schools and colleges
£75: half-term loan, including courier delivery and return
£135: half-term loan, plus unlimited access to mask.ED Module1, Using Mask in Drama
£350: half-term loan, plus a 2-hour introductory workshop led by Vamos Theatre (either in person or online). There may be additional travel and accommodation costs.

Costs - universities and drama schools
£120: half-term loan, including courier delivery and return
£160: half-term loan, plus unlimited access to mask.ED Module1, Using Mask in Drama
£375: half-term loan, plus a 2-hour introductory workshop led by Vamos Theatre (either in person or online). There may be additional travel and accommodation costs.

There will be a £250 deposit required for all loans.
