Vamos Young People’s Theatre has spent the last three days working like troopers installing their exhibition From History to Performance at Worcester Arts Workshop. The exhibition, which is part of a Heritage Lottery funded project, tells the story of how Vamos and VYPT make full mask theatre inspired by people’s personal memories and stories - and in this case, those of cinema in the 1950s.

Open from Thursday 12th June, expect a theatrical, hands-on, unexpected, fantastical, and glorious to look at exhibition with loads to do and see. The young people of VYPT were particularly keen for the exhibition to be interactive and creative, and along with designer Carl Davies have made the space look gorgeous. There’s lots to learn too, from what life was like as a projectionist in the 1950s to how the stories and research carried out by VYPT have become a theatre show, which they are staging in July. You can even try on the costumes, masks and props that VYPT are using for their forthcoming production, entitled The Projectionist.

Pop in any time from Friday 13th until Thursday 26th June, Tuesday to Saturday 12-5pm when members of VYPT will be on hand to show you around or let you wander as you wish. It’s free, and promises to be great fun.
