Thanks to generous funding by Arts Council England, we are being joined by Kate Holt as Photojournalist in Residence during the development of our next production, A Brave Face.

Kate Holt is a freelance photojournalist and regular Guardian contributor who works for the international media, NGOs and corporate clients. Nominated three times for the Amnesty Award for Humanitarian reporting, as well as the Prix Pictet Photographic Award, Kate has worked extensively throughout Africa and Afghanistan for the last 15 years. Between 2009 and 2012, Kate spent two years in Afghanistan, where A Brave Face will partially be set, and was embedded with troops from both the UK and US during that time.

Kate took photographs during the recent Vamos mask-making workshop in Colchester, held in conjunction with Help for Heroes, which was attended by ex-soldiers and staff. You can see a selection of Kate’s photos from the day on our image gallery – click here to visit the gallery.

We’re honoured to have Kate documenting our work and bringing her wide experience and creativity to A Brave Face.
