A great day was had by all on May the 12th, as Vamos helped celebrate International Nurses' Day at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Characters from Vamos's Nursing Lives did the rounds of the wards, meeting patients and staff, and making sure handwashing and hygiene routines were up to scratch! It was part of a day organised by the hospital to celebrate its nurses and staff, which included a display of images and memorabilia about the history of local nursing put on by the University of Chester and Countess nurses. The 1,400 nurses working at the hospital also enjoyed a delivery of special cakes during their Tuesday tea break.

Deputy director of nursing Sian Williams commented, “I am so impressed with the way Vamos Theatre remind us of the importance of non-verbal communication with patients. They take me back to how matron used to be when I started out nursing 37 years ago.”

Vamos would like to thank all the staff and patients we met on the day for joining in the fun, and in particular to Sian Williams, Carol Butler (who manages Ward 51), and Gill Galt,  Head of Communication & Engagement. It was fantastic to be part of such a positive celebration of nurses and nursing.
