Let’s hear from two of Vamos Youth Theatre and Vamos Central’s newest members, Jasmine and Ashley...

Jasmine joined the Youth Theatre at the beginning of November and already has one Vamos Youth Theatre performance under her belt. Here's a brief insight into her short but eventful journey with Vamos Theatre so far:

"Vamos Youth Theatre has been a new and exciting experience for me. I was introduced to mask theatre when Honor hosted a workshop at my school, and I really enjoyed it. At Vamos Youth Theatre we worked on a piece over the course of about seven hours about a girl, her grandad and a doll, which we performed twice, alongside Vamos Central. Working with the new people I have met here has been great, and also increased my confidence.

"Vamos Youth Theatre is perfect for any budding young performer who enjoys physical theatre. In mask, I feel like I can act as stupid as I like with no restrictions; and in a way, its quite liberating. I would thoroughly recommend joining!"

Ashley joined Vamos Central in September 2019 and has become a highly valued performer and stage manager in the rehearsal room. Here is Ashley’s feedback on Vamos Central:

"I am really enjoying being part of Vamos Theatre company. I have learnt so much how to showing emotions and body language when wearing the masks in the shows. I really enjoy doing this and I was so happy for being part of the group. I really loved showing people the performances."

Thanks to Ashley and Jasmine for sharing their thoughts about the group. Vamos Central is for young people with mild to moderate learning disabilities: Vamos Youth Theatre is for young people aged 14-21 who love theatre and want to learn more. For details about the groups, see our Join In pages.
