If you're an actor, performer, or theatre practitioner you can choose from two upcoming masterclasses, both of which promise an inspiring, creative and energy-filled introduction to full mask theatre.

We're delighted to have been chosen to be part of MIMOS 2023, the renowned international mime festival in Perigueux, France. We'll be running a two-day masterclass, which culminates in a short performance on the streets of the city during the festival. Participants will be introduced to the subtle and powerful techniques of mask theatre, showing how to create characters, develop clarity in communication and devise original work, all without words. Theatre makers will learn to create their own mask theatre and gain a better understanding of movement, gesture and pace, intention, internal monologue, clocking, punctuated movement, stillness and non-verbal storytelling.  The masterclass will be taught in English by Artistic Director, Rachael Savage, and takes place on the 5th and 6th July, 2023. MIMOS is a fantastic festival with some amazing physical theatre performances on offer, and there are also accommodation and meal offers available to early bookers. You can book your place here.

If you can't make it to France, we have an equally exciting one-day masterclass at our base in Worcester. This will be a quick-paced and thorough introduction to full mask technique. Through exercises and shared exploration, we'll be looking at mask characterisation, mask physicality, and techniques such as clocking, stillness and isolation, helping to build confidence and understanding of mask performance. More advanced full mask skills and a deeper understanding of the form will also be covered through the full mask devising process, individually and as a mask ensemble. This workshop is on Friday, 30th June from 11am to 4pm. You can book your place here.

We often find exciting new performers from these masterclasses, so if you're interested in mask, physical theatre and devising come and join us for what will be inspiring learning days.
