About the commission
This project was a Special Commission by The Association of Care Training, aiming to raise awareness of Social Care careers for young people, with an emphasis on the apprenticeship opportunities within the health sector. The young people involved in the project saw a performance of Finding Joy, and took part in full mask theatre workshops which focused on non-verbal communication and empathy in care.
ACT chose to commission Vamos based on the company's strong combination of performance and workshop delivery, viewing Finding Joy as a powerful medium through which to explore caring for adults as a career.
John Plant, Head of Performing Arts at Bishop Perowne Performing Arts College described the project as 'amazing', adding, 'Both performance and workshop immersed our young people in a moving story of care, understanding, and the creativity of silent communcation. A unique and powerful experience for all involved.'
ACT's commission was funded by The Department of Health through Skills for Care.
