This week, on Tuesday Dec 1st, we're excited to be taking part in Giving Tuesday 2020, a global generosity movement that has been built by individuals, families, organisations, businesses and communities in countries around the world. It’s a movement that encourages people to give something they have to others - time or expertise, monetary donations large or small, simple acts of kindness or your voice. In an increasingly divided world, Giving Tuesday represents a global ritual based in joy, hope and generosity.
This year has been a tough one for all of us. When we first went into lockdown in April, we were bowled over by the generosity of our supporters whose financial and vocal support gave us both hope and a practical means to survive. Help from our audiences, along with generous support from sponsor organisations, meant we could continue our most crucial work - engaging members of Vamos Central, our youth theatre for people with mild to moderate learning disabilities, planning our new show for care homes, Love Through Double Glazing, and launching Joy in a Box, our big, red support package for care home residents.
Taking part in Giving Tuesday couldn’t be more straightforward. The idea is to think of what you have (money, a voice, time, family, friends or followers) and use that to help charities, including the arts. It’s a great way for people of all ages and abilities to do something to help the arts survive and flourish.
So here are three great ways you can help Vamos Theatre support care homes and young people in the coming months:
Use your voice with friends, family or followers to spread the word about our work in care homes. If you know a care home who might like our work, tell them about our new show in the making.
