We’re delighted that our BBC Culture in Quarantine commission, How Hard is Waving?, has been viewed over 87,000 times since its launch on iplayer and BBC social media platforms in June 2020.

BBC Culture in Quarantine began in March 2020 with the aim of keeping public access to art and culture despite venue closures, social distancing, and UK-wide lockdowns. and supporting artists and institutions during the pandemic. Vamos Theatre won one of only 25 commissions, creating a series of 20 short full mask films between April and June, which were then available to watch on iplayer and social media.

Coming shortly after the suspension of our 2020 tour of Dead Good due to Covid, the commission gave us a special opportunity to create new work at a very challenging time for all artists, and to take full mask into a different medium and to new audiences.

We’re bowled over that the films have reached such a wide audience, and would like to thank BBC Arts for awarding us the commission, and Arts Council England, The Space and Battersea Arts Centre for their ongoing support during its making.

We’d also, of course, like to thank our audiences for spreading the word and shouting about the series to friends and family. If you haven’t yet seen the series you can watch it here or search “Culture in Quarantine” on BBC iplayer and choose Vamos Theatre from the selection.
