Our BBC/Arts Council England Culture in Quarantine commission, How Hard is Waving, starts on Tuesday 7th July, 2020 across BBC social media platforms, showing one episode a day (Tuesday to Saturday) for the next four weeks.
We're extra excited because each weekend there will be an omnibus edition of the whole previous week available to watch on BBC iplayer, which will give you the chance to see what we've been up to during lockdown on the largest possible screen!
The 20 short episodes of How Hard is Waving? tell the story of Ryan, alone in lockdown and doing his best to support his quirky, extended family through video link alone – not to mention keeping his own mental health on track. Playful, comic, and poignant, these non-verbal shorts take us on a journey through four weeks of daily online meet-ups…can Ryan keep Gran happy? Will Dad come a cropper with his DIY? And does Ryan stand a chance with Katie, Gran’s carer?
You can see all the episodes as they're released on the Vamos Theatre Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as watching on iplayer (just search for How Hard is Waving from Sunday 11th July 2020).
Whilst we can't wait to get back on the road and into theatres, it's been an amazing opportunity to take full mask into a different medium. We so hope you enjoy the series - please let us know what you think by leaving a comment here or on our social media pages.
Vamos Theatre’s Culture in Quarantine project is being made with support from The Space and Battersea Arts Centre.
Just came across this on iPlayer and loved it. So funny and poignant at the same. I want to see the further adventures of this family.
ReplyOnly just seen this on iPlayer- it’s amazing!! I was browsing and had no idea what it was so just looked out of curiosity. I was moved to tears and my 11 year son was absolutely fascinated. Well done to the team, whoever you are!
ReplyBrilliant. Do so hope you will be able to go on tour to the Marlowe Canterbury next year. The acting is superb. I would have loved it on for over an hour and just a continuing show. Thank you and good luck.
