Vamos Theatre was delighted to be part of the NHS 70th birthday celebrations on July 5th, taking our Midwives on Call to Brierley Hill in Dudley, West Midlands.

Matron and Nurse Flo did the rounds at the celebratory event, making sure everyone was in tip top health, as well as delivering one or two NHS babies!

Our Midwives Walkabout was only one of the NHS-linked projects we’ve been involved with recently. This month, we staged four performances in the dementia ward at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, adapting our show Sharing Joy to fit in with the specific ward setting. We also opened our tour of Sharing Joy on a dementia ward at Bromsgrove Hospital.

Amanda Watts, Senior Matron at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust commented about the performances at the hospital, "Have you had the Vamos experience? The team visited our ward at New Cross Hospital today; what a truly magical afternoon. The many smiles, giggles and interactions were all priceless and so very precious to see. I cannot thank the team enough for the joy on every face, a very unique performance that reached every person on the ward."

A big thank you to everyone at the NHS 70 celebrations at Brierley Hill, and in particular to Helen Codd, Engagement Manager at Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group, for having us as part of the day. Roll on the next 70 years!
