We’re delighted to announce Vamos Theatre’s success in being awarded funding through Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts, which will help support our next national tour in Spring 2015. The award will allow us to rework Nursing Lives, our first major touring show originally staged in 2010 and one of our most popular productions to date. Set in the Second World War, Nursing Lives tells the story of Flo, a feisty seventy-something, who learns that the hospital she worked at during the war is being demolished. She decides she needs to take one last look and her illicit visit becomes a personal celebration – of friendship, courage, adventure, and romance. But it also reveals a hidden secret, one which Flo still holds close. It’s a darkly humorous and nostalgic full mask show celebrating bravery, determination and the human spirit.
We’ve already begun reworking the show, which we know will benefit from the extra creative experience we’ve had since its original staging – and we’re promising just as much of a crowd-pleaser. We’re particularly excited about introducing one of our favourite shows to audiences and venues who’ve come to know us since Nursing Lives first toured. We’d like to thank Arts Council England for their continuing and valued support, and in particular Michael Addison, whose help and advice is second to none.
Nursing Lives tours from February - May 2015 and is suitable for ages 12+.
Thanks Grant! We accept your challenge to produce an even better and more amazing Nursing Lives this time around!
ReplyHi Kim
Where are you in Wales? If you have any suggestions for venues that would be fabulous!
Yes we currently have 2 dates booked in with the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven in March 2015, and with Theatre Brycheiniog in Brecon in May 2015, but things are still moving around a little as we book more gigs. We hope to tour to further venues in Wales as well.
Before too long we will be announcing our tour dates on our website so do keep checking in.
ReplyAbsolutely delighted for you all - so well deserved! Will be working my butt off to get Vamos back to Crich in 2015 - can’t wait!!!
ReplyWonderful news - congratulations Rachael and the rest of the Vamos team.
ReplyI was fortunate to see the show on its first outing and although I could never imagine how you could improve it (simply because it was so ruddy marvelous) I’m excited to see it again and relive the wonderful story and show.
