Vamos was delighted to once again be part of Deaffest, the UK’s leading deaf-led film and arts festival.

Held this year in Wolverhampton, Deaffest 2017 had the theme of discovery, and included premieres, films and documentaries by UK and international filmmakers, an exhibition by deaf artists and photographers, Young Deaffest, and workshops for adults and young deaf people.

Vamos's Crimplene Crusaders were on hand over the weekend, bringing their usual Walkabout fun and mischief to the event, performed by two Vamos deaf performers, Emily Howlett and Stephen Collins. Emily also led a workshop in full mask for 8-11 year olds.

Deaffest Coordinator Jackie Dunn commented, “..a huge thank you to Vamos for your wonderful roles at Deaffest 2017.  We are delighted with the response to the Walkabout entertainers, which helped create such a fun, high quality event for our visitors.  They made plenty of photo opportunities, which did a wonderful job of promoting the event!  Also, the mask workshop was really popular with participants.”

A big thank you to everyone at Deaffest for hosting such a fantastic event, and in particular  all the workshop participants for their enthusiasm.
