We’d like to say a big Vamos thank you to all the care homes and venues who took part in Sharing Joy, our summer tour for people living with dementia and their carers.

The show visited ten care homes, where it was performed for residents, staff and families, and three venues (Artrix, Hereford Courtyard and Sheringham Little Theatre), who invited local care homes to attend, as well as those living at home and their carers. Some venues also combined hosting the show with Vamos training and workshops for their staff and volunteers.

Feedback from the show has been wonderful, and it’s been particularly important to received really positive feedback from people living with dementia. Here’s just a few of the comments we’ve received from residents (you can see the full list of Carer comments by clicking here)…

"I lost my husband two weeks ago so this was lovely, just lovely." Pat

"All the songs I remember from the war. I enjoyed it thoroughly." Joyce, 94

"You could charm the birds from the trees." Toddie, 94

"I felt a bit down this morning, but this lifted me up. I feel elated." Eadie, 71

"Really interactive and personal, good for us with bad eyes." Eve

"I love the music, getting out of the room, out of the ordinary. Just fantastic." Faye

"I'm a bit silly now, I'm just sensitive I guess. But music has this effect on me. That was wonderful and took me back to such fantastic times with my wife." John, 86
