If you’re a young deaf or hard of hearing actor interested in physical and mask theatre, we’d love to invite you to a free taster workshop as part of the Vamos Emerging Artist programme. The VEA initiative is out to discover the next generation of 18-24-year-old mask performers, and we'd love to meet you. You are welcome to attend any of the regional workshops, but if you are a BSL user, we have two workshops which will be BSL interpreted - at Arena Theatre, Wolverhampton (8th March) and Jacksons Lane, London (28th April).
The quick-paced mask performance workshop will teach you Vamos Theatre’s approach to mask work, creating physical character and devising non-verbal theatre that connects and moves audiences. From these taster workshops, we will bring together a group of emerging artists for a residency in summer 2022 to create and perform mask theatre from shared stories and backgrounds.
We welcome all, and particularly encourage artists from diverse ethnic backgrounds to apply. Vamos Theatre is an inclusive company; please let us know how we can make accessing this programme easier for you.
