Vamos held a free Full Mask for Performers workshop last week as part of Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and discovered a great deal of potential mask talent in those taking part.
With all the shows and events going on during the festival, we were delighted that the workshop sold out, and performers found time in their schedules to attend. The workshop was an introduction to Vamos's mask theatre style, and covered basic mask techniques like hot-seating and character establishment.
Rachael Savage, who led the workshop, was delighted by the skills on show and the obvious enthusiasm for full mask. Participant Tessa Gaukroger was impressed by how useful mask techniques can be for performers, whatever their discipline, saying she left full of new ideas and suggestions for her own work. Performer Virginia Byron agreed, saying, "I had a wonderful workshop in the company of gifted actors led by the inspirational Rachael Savage, a ball of positive energy, wit and spirit. Loved it!"
