Our Artistic Director, Rachael Savage, recently visited Cardiff to lead a two day training session with inclusive theatre company, Taking Flight.
Taking Flight is a Wales-based, inclusive theatre company that creates ambitious productions with deaf, disabled and non-disabled artists working together as equals. Its work champions access, representation and social change, combining high-quality professional theatre with participation, training and talent development to remove barriers and increase opportunities for disabled people in the arts.
Rachael was invited to train the company’s professional freelance artists, teaching mask skills and devising within an inclusive, accessible context. Feedback was very positive, with participants commenting, "As a disabled person I found the access of the workshop AMAZING! the skills taught throughout the two days where insightful, creative and accessible." And "I have had so many thoughts and ideas for the future. It was massively stimulating and a real privilege to take part and learn from such a fantastic artist. Rewarding, Challenging. Life- giving."
