Our Artistic Director Rachael Savage was delighted to join Lori La Bey, American agent for change in dementia care, and take part in her Alzheimer's Speaks podcast series.
The Alzheimer's Speaks initiative was created in 2009 by Lori La Bey, its mission to shift dementia care from crisis to comfort around the world, by giving voice to all. The podcast is just one part of Lori La Bey's work to build better, and to develop new sustainable systems, of support. Lori’s cutting edge approach to shifting global dementia care has been recognised by Oprah Winfrey, Maria Shriver, Sharecare, and The National Institute for Dementia Education in the USA.
In the 60 minute filmed podcast, Rachael talks with Lori about Vamos Theatre’s work to promote the arts as a powerful tool for change, and the company’s performances and workshops specifically for the dementia care sector. She focuses on the development of the Culture Change in Dementia Care initiative, which advocates models of care based on skills of empathy, insight, listening and trust building, promoted through care staff CPD training, performances for people living with dementia, and practical resources.
Huge thanks to Lori for hosting Rachael on her inspiring podcast series.
