Congratulations to the joyous, warm and talented group of artists from across the globe who took part in our Revealing the Mask weekend residency, part of MimeLondon 2026.

The two-day residency gave participants a thorough introduction to full mask technique. including mask characterisation, mask physicality, and techniques such as clocking, stillness and isolation, helping to build confidence and understanding of mask performance. The group also explored devising as a group and individually. 

Led by our Artistic Director, Rachael Savage, the high energy residency attracted international and UK-based participants, and Vamos Theatre was able to give free places to two of our Elevate programme alumni, Mai Worth and Ines Aresti.

Rachael commented, “I can honestly say that was my favourite two day masterclass that I have ever delivered. The energy in the room was so open and as a result, I tried different exercises and ways of learning, lifted straight from the rehearsal room. What a joy.”

All participants who fed back gave the weekend 5 stars. One commented, “I was totally absorbed by the entire workshop - learning from Rachael was invaluable. Her calming and gentle approach was amazing, but she also gently pushed us to achieve complex techniques.” 

Flavia Bertram added, “I thought it was just brilliant. Rachael is a fabulous and generous teacher – I’d 100% recommend.”
