Created especially for people with sensory issues, learning disabilities and/or autism, and those living with dementia, Mischief is a 60-minute interactive performance, workshop and celebration featuring comic out-and-about characters, interactive sensory play, and a special mask theatre workshop. And as part of our ongoing Culture Change in Dementia Care initiative, we’re taking Mischief on the road to care homes across the West Midlands.
Welcome to the performers. Angela Laverick is a Somerset-based actor who has worked with us many times – most recently playing Liam’s mum in Boy on the Roof. Part of the Sharing Joy team, she has strong experience working with people living with dementia. Angela jointly runs Tor Theatre and is a community artist at Wiltshire Creative.
Graeme Rose is a Birmingham born-and-based actor/theatre-maker. Co-founder of Stan’s Cafe Theatre and The Resurrectionists, he has also worked with companies including BE Festival, Bodies in Flight, BoldText, Bone Ensemble, Coventry Belgrade, Creation Theatre, Kali, Kindle, Imitating the Dog, Modified Toy Orchestra, No Stone Theatre, Talking Birds, Theatre Absolute, The Other Way Works, The Playhouse, Red Shift, Untied Artists, and Women & Theatre.
Mischief is directed by Rachael Savage, and the team is assisted by Ruby Williams, who is on work experience from Christopher Whitehead Language College, Worcester.
Our Culture Change in Dementia Care initiative focuses on new models of community-based care highlighting genuine, truthful connection, based on skills of empathy, insight, listening and trust building. We've developed workshop and performance modules, assets and bespoke packages for dementia care settings, training organisations, conferences, individual carers and other health settings, which help promote a compassionate, person-centred approach to dementia care. This tour brings together our Listening with your Eyes training for carers, alongside Mischief, which shows our non verbal interaction in action.
A massive thank you as always to Vicki Shaw (PrimeLife) and all our care home venues.
Just the best people supporting our lovely Residents & Staff xxx
