Vamos Central, our group for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities, has been excited to partner with Apt Dance and Theatre Company and Ad-Apt Dance, Community Integrated Dance Companies based at National Star College, Cheltenham.
During the project, which has been developing since summer 2021, Vamos Central’s lead, Honor Hoskins, has visited Ad-Apt to share mask skills with the group and Kez Benbow from Ad-Apt shared their working methods with Vamos Central. The groups then set off on a devising journey around the theme ‘connect’,
Last week, the two groups came together at National Star College for an emotional evening of work. Honor Hoskins commented,
“This has been an incredible project to be part of, and tonight Vamos Central were totally moved by the work created by Ad-Apt Dance. Vamos Central did themselves proud with their piece, which combines BSL made into movement and mask work. The whole project, which has been really hindered by Covid, was made totally worthwhile tonight!”
Vamos Central will continue working on its ‘connect’ piece and perform it again to a Worcester-based audience in the summer.
