Mask Performing and Devising

Revealing the Mask is a workshop for actors, performers, early career artists, teachers and educators. It's an engaging, creative, high energy and inspiring session that gives participants a thorough introduction to full mask and devising techniques, in the style of Vamos Theatre. Through games, exercises and shared exploration, the workshop introduces mask characterisation, mask physicality, mask techniques such as clocking, stillness and isolation, and ways to devise effectively and impactfully, helping to build confidence and understanding of non-verbal performance.

We welcome deaf participants at all our workshops, which can be led by a deaf workshop leader/or include BSL interpretation. Just let us know when booking.

Learning outcomes:
•    Familiarity and confidence with the fundamentals of full mask performance
•    A developed understanding of characterisation and physicality in full mask
•    An understanding of the importance of focus whilst performing in full mask
•    Increased confidence in the devising process
•    An understanding of how to devise with clarity and impact

Suitability: actors, performers, theatre makers, teachers, educators, early career artists.
Course size: maximum 24 participants
Duration: 2hrs/4hrs/full day - also available as teacher CPD twilight or full day sessions
