Creativity in the Classroom

About the workshop

This one day practical workshop is designed for primary school teachers and practitioners working with young people under 11, who have little or no drama experience. The session aims to develop confidence when using drama as a tool for classroom teaching across the curriculum.
During the workshop participants will:
•    Explore how drama games and theatre techniques can be used as starting points for generating ideas or adding value to existing work
•    Learn physical games that can help raise standards in literacy, including helping school children understand and obey punctuation
•    Find imaginative ways to encourage students to make and tell stories and narratives using their bodies, touch and sound, always focusing on structure and clarity
•    Have a selection of drama methods and exercises that can be used immediately and confidently back in the classroom.
