Hi, my name is joe Raybould and I spent a week at Vamos Theatre during February for college work experience.

During this time I was  able to observe their pre-production of A Brave Face, which was a powerful piece about an ex-soldier suffering from ptsd. The first time I saw this I was amazed by the story and how clear it was, as there were no words spoken. It was really interesting to see  how they tackled this sensitive subject and the variety of characters portrayed with it were equally heart-wrenching and heart-warming.

I loved to see how the actors could perform such strong characters behind a mask and done with such passion and skill. During this pre-production, I also got to see the rehearsals and see how the theatre operates behind the scenes such as the costumes, the set, the masks and the music.

It was really great to be with Vamos Theatre for a week, as it gave me great insight for myself as an actor and how I can apply what I learned from watching everyone from within the production to my course.

They made me feel very welcome and made me feel part of the family; everyone was extremely friendly to me, the atmosphere was fantastic and I hope to keep in touch with them in the future. I would definitely recommend Vamos Theatre for anyone looking for work experience. It’s honestly amazing and I had the best time with these absolutely amazing people. Thank you all for having me.
