The Wednesday Wave

The Wednesday Wave was a national and international campaign to combat loneliness amongst care home residents and anyone who was isolated during the Covid-19 pandemic.

From 3pm on Wednesdays, from 14th October til 16th December 2020, anyone and everyone was encouraged to wave, as well as displaying posters and drawings in their windows to show their support.

Over the ten weeks, thousands of people took part, including care homes, schools, radio stations, brownies and scouts, politicians, local papers and more...
