Vamos returned to the Physical Fellowship festival this month, an inspiring annual event produced by the wonderful Highly Sprung performance company.

The Physical Fellowship, which is the UK’s only physical theatre festival for young people, celebrates the sharing of original devised performance in all forms of physical theatre, and enables young performers to experience and create work of a professional standard: as such it is a unique experience for young performers.

Vamos’s Kathryn Green ran two days of workshops at the Terry O Toole Theatre Lincoln, and the South Holland Centre in Spalding. The sessions focussed on Vamos’s particular  style of mask performance, and gave an insight into how mask skills, based on physical clarity and awareness, are also relevant in a much wider range of physical theatre contexts.

The festival ran from the 24th to the 27th of February at a number of Lincolnshire One Venues (LOV) locations. Kathryn commented on the festival, “I worked with three fantastic school groups - Spalding High School, Stamford Welland Academy and North Kesteven School - all of whom were talented and enthusiastic - and it was a real pleasure to be part of such a great festival of physical theatre."

Vamos would like to thank everyone at the Physical Fellowship festival for being so welcoming, and Highly Sprung for inviting us to be part of this important event.
