This July, Vamos will take its mask theatre to the Jyväskyla Festival in Finland, giving the company its international theatre debut.
Finding Joy, Vamos’s production exploring dementia which toured the UK in 2013 and 2014 will form part of this eclectic festival, alongside Vamos Walkabout Theatre and mask workshops on July 8th and 9th. Finding Joy, re-worked to a shorter length to suit the requirements of international touring, may then spend a week at the Edinburgh International Festival in August.
Rachael Savage, Vamos’s Artistic Director, commented, “Mask theatre is a perfect medium for an international audience to appreciate, with no language barrier to overcome. We are truly delighted to be taking Vamos to Finland and beyond, thanks in large part to the work of our Creative Producer, Penny Mayes.”
