Do you teach drama? Are you an arts professional working with children or young people? If you are South East based, or within reach of London, we have a one day workshop coming up on Thursday, 11th February.

The interactive and practical workshop is aimed at anyone who is interested in using mask in their work with young people, and will be a full introduction to the mask techniques used in our theatre shows.

The exercises and approaches are suitable and adaptable for professionals working with children and young people across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 as well as those working in further education. The course will cover:

*Rules of the mask and development of character – explore basic mask skills, through non-verbal communication and hot-seating.
*Devising mask – learn how to devise mask scenes through structured exercises and professional direction.
* Directing mask – discover effective ways of directing mask theatre with clarity and focus.
*Getting the best out of your students – learn accessible and engaging ways of teaching mask performance across all Key Stages.
*Using music – explore the importance of music in creating mask theatre.

With exercises and methods that can be fed straight back into unit planning or physical theatre practise, this accessible and supportive day workshop generates extensive ideas on how to create effective mask theatre with young people. Professional masks will be supplied for use during the day.

When: Thursday 11th February 2016 10:30am – 4:30pm
Where: Toynbee Studios, 28 Commercial Street, London E1
Fee: £185 per participant. There is a 10% discount for each additional colleague from the same organisation.
