Rachael Savage: Artistic Director

After working nationally and internationally for fifteen years, Rachael founded Vamos Theatre in 2006. As Artistic Director of the company, her role varies from writer, director and actor, to workshop leader, drama consultant for schools, and university lecturer.

Rachael trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Theatre experience includes work with a wide range of UK companies, touring and regional producing theatres, including: Birmingham Rep, Coventry Belgrade Theatre, Northern Stage, Bolton Octagon, Pentabus, Red Shift, Cleveland Theatre, Dodgy Clutch/Welfare State International; 7 years with Trestle Theatre; and three international touring companies - Tour de Force, The American Drama Group, and The International Theatre Company London. Rachael has written, and performed or directed all Vamos Theatre shows to date.


Janie Armour: Composer and Musical Director

Janie has been part of the Vamos team since its beginning in 2006. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and at Goldsmiths College University of London, from where she has a Masters degree in Composition. She has over 40 professional theatre shows to her credit, including work for the Watermill Theatre, York Theatre Royal, Trestle Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre, and composition for BBC2 and Radio 3. Janie has collaborated extensively with spoken word artists, composing and performing most recently with Aoife Mannix, with whom she has toured Growing up an Alien, Different Words for Snow and the current Misunderstood Monsters. Janie is an Associate Artist with Vamos Theatre and has composed the music and soundtracks for all Vamos’s productions to date.


Honor Hoskins: Associate Artist

Honor is a Vamos Theatre Associate Artist, joining the company in 2007.

Since becoming part of the Vamos team, Honor has toured as a performer and workshop leader with many of the company’s productions, including Storybag 1, Storybag 2, In your Face, Nursing Lives, and The Best of Storybag. She has run hundreds of training and education sessions throughout the country, and is particularly adored by the younger Vamos participants. Honor is currently out on the road with Much Ado About Wenlock, as performer, workshop leader and Tour Manager.

Prior to joining Vamos Theatre, Honor worked for The Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury as Outreach Officer, Snap Children’s Theatre Company, Worcestershire and Herefordshire Youth Offending Service, Gloucestershire Youth Offending Service,  as well as training with TiPP (Theatre in Prison and Probation).


Sue Roberts: Company Director

Sue is a Company Director of Vamos and a partner in Artservice, an arts consultancy specialising in theatre and venue management and development. She worked in rural touring for over twenty years, booking and managing over five hundred shows a year (across all the professional live arts) in village venues in four Counties. Prior to this, she was the director of two arts access agencies in Lincolnshire and Humberside, and the North East, and taught in Higher Education (English Literature). She is a writer and currently runs a poetry project in two nursing homes in Herefordshire working with elderly people with dementia.


Emma Watson: Education Officer

Emma has worked as Education Officer at Vamos since June 2011, implementing and developing the education programme alongside her work as a freelance Arts Education Consultant.

Emma’s relationship with Vamos started in her previous role of Education and Learning Officer at Arts Council England, West Midlands where she supported Vamos Theatre in its relationship with the Arts Council and became familiar with the company’s work and ambitions.  Emma was at the Arts Council for nine years and prior to this worked in the education sector for fifteen years. She has a passion for education and learning and strives to continue developing opportunities for creative learning.


Stuart Plant: Company Administrator

Stuart joined Vamos as Company Administrator in December 2010.  He has a background in customer service and retail management and gained a degree in Business Management at Worcester University in 2001. He worked for ten years as a coordinator for youth vocational training projects in Birmingham, where he managed a team of trainers offering support to unemployed young people and young offenders.

Stuart manages the day to day running of the busy Vamos Theatre office. He is the first point of contact in many phone and email requests, as well as coordinating marketing materials and contracts for venues and schools. His work also involves supporting Vamos’s Marketing and Tour Management.
